Kids' talks 童言童語

(1) 晚上下著毛毛雨，剛下完課，我騎我的50cc載著柔柔回家。柔柔當時是三歲多。在路上，有位人兄騎著單車，手牽著一隻狗。好奇的柔柔問我：「媽咪，他在做什麼？」我回答：「他在溜狗。」她很正經八百地說：「媽咪，你錯了！是一狗，不是六狗！」我愣了一下：「哦！他在溜一隻狗。」

Eileen was about 3 years old at that time. It was drizzling when we were going home on my scooter in the late evening. On our way home, a man was riding his bicycle and walking a dog on a leash. Eileen turned to me and asked me, "Mommy, what is the man doing?" I said, "He's walking a dog." She then said to me in a serious voice,"Mommy, you are wrong! There is only one dog, not 6 dogs!!" I was speechless at first, and then I realized that she misunderstood the meaning of walking a dog in Chinese. In Chinese the phrase of "walking a dog" sound exactly the same as "six dogs."

(2) 幼稚園老師跟我分享的一個小趣事。打掃時間，老師在整理教室，突然發現某處有一整排的螞蟻。老師拿起掃把打算把這些螞蟻掃掉，柔柔出聲：「老師，請不要這樣子做，牠們會迷路、不知道回家的路了。」

At preschool, the teacher was cleaning the classroom after most of the kids had been picked up by their parents. Eileen was waiting to be picked up in the classroom. She followed the teacher when she was doing the cleaning. Suddenly, they found a line of ants somewhere in the classroom. When the teacher was getting a broom to get them off the ground, Eileen said to her teacher, "Please don't do that or they get lose. They won't be able to find their way home."

This is Eileen, 4 year old, practicing the speech which was to be presented to the kids who "graduated" from the kingergarten.
